Abstract
Not Provided
Caption: Expression of Jaws on GPi neurons. AAV5-hSyn-Jaws-KGC-GFP-ER2 was injected in the internal globus pallidus (GPi) of a rhesus macaque. The area in the rectangle is shown at higher magnification in the inset. Jaws expression was revealed with antibodies against GFP and immunoperoxidase. GPe, external globus pallidus, OT, optic tract. Assay & Results
Trying to target all neurons in Globus pallidus external (GPe ). Jaws expression was revealed with antibodies against GFP and immunoperoxidase. Neurons at injection site (GPe neurons), neurons in neighboring regions (GPi, likely due to spread of virus), and expression of GFP along axons and terminals originating form GPe cells (anterograde transport).
Functional Testing
The opsin Jaws silenced neurons in GPe when activated by light.
Tips & Comments
Inject a smaller volume to keep the expression confined to the region of interest.
