- N/A
- Injector Material
- 0. 3 mL insulin syringe
- Injection Site / Route
- Intravenous retro-orbital and tail vein
- Additional Details
- Retro-orbital and tail vein inject to target sensory neurons, ideally those in the olfactory epithelium; In the olfactory epithelium, I observed very sparse expression in the sensory neurons and stronger expression in sustentacular cells
Other Details

- Mouse
- Strain or Cell Line
- C57/BL6J

- Stock Number
- JAX: 000664
- Age at Injection
- 8 weeks
- Time After Injection
- 3 weeks
- Detection Method
- Direct fluorescence
- Assay & Results
- In the olfactory epithelium, I observed very sparse expression in the sensory neurons and stronger expression in sustentacular cells
- Other Information
- No toxicity or inflammation. The number of cells infected in the 1e11 VG and 1e12 injections did not seem that different. In both cases the number of sensory neurons that were infected were quite low.
- Tips & Comments
- In our experience, it seems that the AAV PHP. S variants do not offer much of an advantage over other more reliable methods of transducing olfactory sensory neurons, such as with Adenoviruses
