- Additional Details
- We were injecting into medial septum and attempting to avoid lateral septum and diagonal band; Medial septum; Viral expression was well-contained within the medial septum. Terminal expression was seen in common terminating regions and particularly widespread in the hippocampus

- Age at Injection
- Young adult (weight 300-325 grams)
- Time After Injection
- 8 weeks for cell body expression, 12 weeks for terminal expression.
- Detection Method
- Immunohistochemistry
- Assay & Results
- Viral expression was well-contained within the medial septum. Terminal expression was seen in common terminating regions and particularly widespread in the hippocampus.
- Functional Testing
- We injected CNO and vehicle when using this empty vector virus and the hM3Dq-containing virus and both worked as expected
- Tips & Comments
- 0.8 uL was perfect for effective expression within the medial septum without expanding too far into lateral and ventral regions. Leaving the needle in the region of infusion for a few minutes after the infusion is complete and raising the needle slowly is important for keeping the virus in the place of infusion.
